A Cold Month 🥶❄️☃️

To anyone who has read Wolf Healer, you know my opinion of February. On the 14th, V-day itself, the roads were so bad, the spouse ended up not getting me anything because it was safer to just drive home. My son called me on his drive home from work, not to talk, but in case the car left the road, someone would know right away.

As for me, I was home Friday. My teaching schedule this semester is Monday through Thursday. I cooked macaron cookies and a nice dinner in (don’t ask about the diet!)

(By the way, the image above is my cat with the same opinion of February as I have!)

A friend of mine started listening to the full Jade series. On Sunday she started Battlefield and something distracted her after she finished chapter 5. I sent her this short story, linked on my website. It occurred to me that not everyone here may know about all the short stories I’ve written.

When I first wrote Wolf Healer, I had a flashback to when Jade was six, out running with Owen and her cousins. It’s the story she and Owen elude to when they discuss her knowing her future path to become the next wolf healer. The writing group I was with at the time thought it was too much for the first chapter so I took it out and added it to the website as a short story.

There are four short stories. The fist is the one about Jade when she was six. the next is when Bevin is young, coming out to the kiddos about his name. The third one is Bevin during spring break when Jade and Sarah are in Florida, and the last is the first chapter of Battlefield in Pebble’s point of view. You can find them all under the ‘mini’ menu tab on my website.

If there are any other questions you want seen fleshed out in a short story, let me know, though I may wait until after Pebble’s trilogy is out. Unless the questions are about Ember’s world.

Xenagogue is scheduled to drop on April 11th. There haven’t been many pre-orders, though I guess I don’t get many for this series in general, so I’m not too surprised. I’ve been told by my most amazing editor that it should be back to me in the next 7 to 10 days. If you want to be part of the ARC team, receive an early copy of the eBook and review it on the day it comes out, please fill out THIS FORM. (You can review it on goodreads as soon as you’re done, the only review that has to wait until April 11th is amazon)

I hope you are all doing well, and surviving this February!

SO MANY BOOKS!! 😍📚🔥

Hi my friends! It’s the last day of June. I hope you enjoyed June, did all the events you wanted or read all the books or just did you.

I put Wolf Healer in a couple of book events. I told you about the one a couple of weeks ago. Today, is the last day of Jae’s month Pride Reads. Today there are a ton of free books and the chance to win things! Wolf Healer is up for a free audiobook. Check it out!!

Jae’s Pride Reads Link…

If any of you see my posts on facebook or instagram, you know I talk about the writing community as being very important to my writing career. One of the people who has helped me is Jessica Rosenberg, an indie author who lives in Santa Cruz, California. She’s from Paris originally and when I went out to visit there last summer, she put up with a lot of my questions.

I’ve read some of her books. She writes about a magical town on the east coast. Like me, her writing has a lot of food, so expect to be hungry! Her characters tend to be older, but the stories are low spice.

There is a new book coming out, Spells & Spice & Everything Nice, and you may find this book, or others that she writes, a way to fill in the space between my books.

Juliette’s magic can find anything—except what she craves most. Compelled to return lost objects to their rightful owners, Juliette finds fulfillment in reuniting lockets, grimoires, and letters with their owners. But with her love life in tatters, her latest assignment stings. Between her demanding magic, colorful friends, Harvey the mischievous foster raccoon, and her thriving bookshop, Juliette’s hands and heart are full. But the mystery of a bedraggled teddy bear and a missing witchling awakens her deepest desires for a family of her own. With friends casting perfect spells by her side and Tybalt’s unexpected support, Juliette races to find the child, hoping to right the ultimate wrong and perhaps gain what she yearns for most. Join Juliette, Harvey, and the rest of the Portney gang in Spells & Spice & Everything Nice. Like the first two, the third Wyrd Words & Witchcraft Paranormal Women’s Fiction book is set in the same beach town as Jessica Rosenberg’s popular Baking Up a Magical Midlife series.

Happy soon to be July!

Thunderbolts and Lightening!

If you live anywhere in or around Wisconsin, you know the weather is … exciting. It’s Saturday right now, and ironically, the weather is nice.

But, yesterday and tomorrow are thunderstorms. Earlier this week we had a day with four (five?) tornado sirens!! Below is an image of the storm Tuesday night. Friends lost power for days. We lucked out.

Long story short … I got a lot of reading done, and the BOOK FAIR is postponed until June 2nd. Good news, I will definitely have copies of Veiled Phoenix, officially out June 14th, pre-order the eBook today!, to sell!!! Bad news, you have to wait a week to buy them.

I still hope to see you there! https://www.facebook.com/events/374391782017381

In the meantime, I’m almost done cleaning up Battle Phoenix, then I’m back to the Pebble books!

Pixes and Ogres

I traveled to Sheboygan, Wisconsin with my friend, A.R. Grimes on Sunday for an author event. We taught a class on conceptualizing your book. But I get ahead of myself.

The two of us strapped onto our griffins for an exciting ride across our state. We carried our books, and a hope to share our love of writing, creating, and publishing.

When we landed, we realized before we stopped at the local book shop, we had to focus on our stomachs. We found a tavern, Sly’s Midtown Salooon, yes, I spelled that correctly, though your question was legit.

A bevy of pixes quickly got to our needs, flitting around, serving the trolls and gnomes demanding breakfast and ale. We were informed the owner, an ogre, was around keeping all in line. It took a bit of time for the cook to switch over from breakfast to lunch, but when the food came, it was delightful.

Michelle, our pixie server.

The Cook, and her pixie philosophy!

Once we fed the beasts that were our bellies, A.R. Grimes and I headed over to WordHaven BookHouse. The lead elf was out, under the weather, but she left a wonderful commander, able to watch the store as we held our class. We had five students in attendance as we discussed ways to plan out a book, resources, and our path to get works published.

In the end, we slid on our magical rainbows back home, excited about the new friends we had made on our adventure in our own state.

Fun Promotions!

November is going to be an interesting month. For those of you who are not writers, there is a national writing thing called nanowrimo, or NaNoWriMo, or national novel writing month. It is where writers challenge themselves to write 50k… that is 50,000 words, in the form of a novel, in the month of November.

It’s fun!

Really…

Photo by Uzunov Rostislav on Pexels.com

Anyway, I’m penning (well typing) a new book. The title? Veiled Phoenix. Totally new. If everything goes as planned, maybe it will be published next year after all of Jade Stone Chronicles is out. So far the book has 3000 words to it, so, not quite done. Wolf Healer is about 90k…

But that isn’t what I’m here to talk about. I’ve joined a couple of book promotions this month… maybe even a few! One of them is promoting books on Kindle Unlimited. Here is the link: LINK!!!! As you see, all three of my books are on there. If you all could share the link, that would be AMAZING!

I’ll tell you about the other promotion in a few weeks. Hope your November is starting off amazing!

Cheers!

Time is a Traitor…

Back in 2019 I decided I wanted to try to write a book. I had no idea what I was getting into. I’m not sure anyone who decides to write does. Being a teacher, I spend most of my time in front of students, and not in front of a computer.

Taking words and stories from your imagination, to a published book that strangers (insert freak out here) can and will read, takes a lot more than I knew back all those years ago. If you want to know the steps, let me know, I’ve written some about the process, and am more than willing to share more.

But that isn’t what I want to talk about, what I want to discuss is the fourth book in the Jade Stone Chronicles, Traitor, it comes out this December, one year after Wolf healer came out. I’ve been meaning to tell you all about it, but time has been slipping by me like a kid sliding down a water slide!

I am very excited about this latest book…I hope you are as well. Jade and friends are in college, a new pack has been created, and they’ve moved to California! Only fun can happen from there! If you aren’t caught up on the first three books, see the links below. If you are, tell a friend!

Cheers!

Wolf Healer

Although she trips over her own feet during gym class, Jade’s confident her academics are spot on to become the next healer for her parents’ werewolf pack. But when her best friend invites her to spring break in Florida, everything she thought she knew shatters.

After returning to Wisconsin with carefully guarded secrets laid bare, Jade struggles to find acceptance. As the blows keep coming, she and her closest friends confront the packs intolerances.

Will she be able to hold the pieces of her shattering life together long enough to find a new path?

Epsilon

Over the summer, between sophomore and junior year, Jade and her werewolf pack family rescue Pebble, a five-year-old girl from the foster care system in Illinois. They worry, after her family was found dead by the side of the interstate, that they may have been attacked by a rogue werewolf. After bringing her home, small animals, and then people around town start to turn up dead.

Stolzburg has a rogue werewolf and the alphas have made it clear that Jade and friends need to stay safe. Just because Jade is avoiding the danger, doesn’t mean it’s avoiding her.

Alphas

As Jade rebuilds her life after last autumn’s trauma, Sarah decides joining track is the perfect distraction. While Jade’s figuring out how to compete without giving away her wereanimal status, Bevin finds someone nice he can date.

When summer begins, Jade travels cross country with José, Owen, and Tanner to visit colleges. A run-in with rogue werewolves triggers new epsilon abilities and an unlikely alliance develops. The question becomes: can she save her new ally or will she end up dead?

A site worth seeing!

I love SapphFic is an amazing website. They promote books, the reading of books, authors of books, and the joining of the two in a fun celebration.

They have asked many of the authors they promote to bring to their readers the books that they love for free, and how could the authors refuse. They put together:

For three days, over seventy Sapphic ebooks will be available for free. These books range from YA, like mine, Wolf Healer, to books that bring spice. To join their celebration of books, just visit their Free Fall Event, and check out all they have to offer!

You can also find I heart Sapphic on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or just sign up for their author newsletter and never miss a thing!

Cheers!
