Hi friends,

It is January. To many this is a cold and dreary month. Now, as it has been snowing for two days solid, I don’t disagree, however, there are so many birthday in the next few weeks, this month holds a soft spot in my heart.

I have been told that I’m missing out by not connecting with all of you with my newsletters. My problem? I’m not sure what you’d like to know.

So, what have I decided after doing a long hard survey of one fan? Well, I’m going to start sending out short stories. Most will be based on my completed stories.

Next weekend, on January 24th (my birthday!) my gift to you, will be the first short story. You’ll get the first story involving Jade’s kids, as well as Owen’s rug rats.

If you haven’t made it to the end of Jade’s stories, well, surprise, there are kids! I’ll make sure to put the short story at the end, but if you haven’t made it to book 7, Pack Presents, there will be spoilers.

At some point in the future, I’ll also include some short stories about Ember’s life in twelve year. I have some ideas planned out.

If you have any requests, let me know!

Huckle

  1. That’s a fun outcome, and I do love a free short story!

If you ever feel like you’re lacking fan engagement try reading other author newsletters. Some can be hit or miss. The most important thing is to actually post one regularly. Clare Lydon does a fun newsletter. She tells you what has been going on in her life briefly, then updates you on what is being worked on, gives her own answer to the question she asked in the previous newsletter, and then has a copy and paste of her favorite responses sent to her. She ends with a new question. Rachel Lacey, Harper Bliss, and Lee Winters also do a good job.

Happy almost birthday! Mine is February 20th, and I always wished it was in June or July so it was spaced away from Christmas.

      1. Clare’s newsletter is weekly, and this is the weeks question. Last week’s was to do with New Year’s resolutions.

This week’s question: Following on from my book club dilemma. Have you ever been part of a book club in real life or online? What did you think? Did you love it or hate it? Have you got any funny stories from your book club time? I’ve only been a part of one once before, and I turned up with a bottle of rum (long story). When I left, the bottle of rum was gone, and I was invited back. I do not recall any book being discussed. Hit reply and tell me your book club stories. I’d love to know!
